Our living space is full of architectural creations, to which we have become so accustomed to, that we don’t even notice them anymore. With my friend and fellow artist Gilly Tamás, using snow bricks, we have walled up the old gate of the Mátyás Church in the Epreskert, Budapest. We have created an ephemeral work of art, shedding new light upon this forgotten piece of architecture.

These works deal with the subject of  ”travel” in a broader sense and the process of getting ready for it. By travel I don’t mean holiday travel, but rather the never-ending migration in the search for a better life.My “Practical sculptures” series was inspired by the motion concept of Pop Up books. I started working on sculptures, which can be taken apart and neatly packaged, thus making their transport and storage practical.My sculptures, besides the playfulness of mobile sculptures, hold within a certain amount of self-irony, because art doesn’t have to follow the rules of practicality, or does it?

This object, well known from movies, serves as a hiding place for a handgun. My „book“ shouldn’t be perceived as „the power of the book“ used as a weapon, it is merely a hiding place, no more then it seems. I selected these books by chance, but I was careful not to convey any unwanted meaning through the book itself. I wanted to use a book that didn’t have any philosophical standpoint, therefore I chose an adventure novel for children „Die Höhlenkinder“ byA. Th. Sonnleitner and a local phonebook „Das Telefonbuch“. I was living in Germany at the time, this is why i chose german books and cut the outline of a Walter PP pistol used by the german police. The object is defunctionalised by not cutting the actual size of the pistol into the book.

This work is the result of my interest towards mobile sculpture and land art. The goal is to make a small artistic gesture which appears unexpectedly in the city dweller’s everyday environment. The concept of the form was to use a minimalistic approach which is geometrical, but also similar to shapes and patterns found in nature. I placed these small objects in puddles around the city and let them be controlled by nature. Due to their specific shape and small weight they react even to the smallest breeze, resulting in an unpredictable chain of movements. I captured this project on a 17 min 27 sec long video documentation.
